Aspidistra oblanceifolia is a Chinese species mentioned in 1982 (southern Guizhou, western Hubei and Sichuan). A selection from a Japanese nursery brought to the West by plantsman Ted Stephens, Aspidistra 'Nagoya Stars' forms a fantastic clump of erect, outward-arching leaves of a glossy dark green color, heavily dotted with medium-sized, bright cream spots. The base of the foliage is adorned with dozens of small red flowers in winter.
