A species with ribbon-like leaves, Aspidistra omeiensis has a short rhizome from which grow leaves borne in groups of 3-4, dark green in colour with raised veins.

It resembles a Liriope , but with more tender leaves and a papery consistency. Drought-resistant, it can be used at the base of shrubs to cover the ground.
